What are fat-dissolving injections?

Aqualyx is a water-based solution that contains a fat-dissolving acid. When injected into your fatty tissue, the active ingredient surrounds the fat cells and safely destroys them.

Am I a candidate for fat-dissolving injections?

When you come in for a body contouring consultation at Smooth Body Contours, your provider conducts an in-depth evaluation to determine if you’re a candidate for fat-dissolving injections. First, they ask detailed questions to fully understand your beauty concerns and goals and then review your medical history and examine the areas of concern.

You may be a candidate for fat-dissolving injections if you’re at or close to your desired body weight but can’t get rid of stubborn pockets of fat from various areas of your body. 

If you’re not a candidate for the fat-dissolving injections, Smooth Body Contours offers many other body contouring treatments to help you reach your body goals, including liposuction and fat freezing. 

What happens during fat-dissolving injections?

Your fat-dissolving injections are an in-office treatment. Your provider at Smooth Body Contours designs a specific body contouring plan that best meets your needs. They review the specifics of your plan at your consultation, so you know what to expect. 

First, your provider cleans the area undergoing the injections with an antiseptic cloth and then injects a local anesthetic to numb the area and ease discomfort. Your provider then injects the fat-dissolving medication.

The number of fat-dissolving injections you need depends on the size of the area undergoing treatment. Your fat-dissolving injections take about an hour or less. 

What happens after fat-dissolving injections?

You can resume your usual activities after receiving fat-dissolving injections unless otherwise directed.

Because it takes your body time to process and remove the destroyed fat cells, it may take a few weeks until you see improvements in your body shape and about six months until you see the final results. Once the fat is gone, it won’t come back.
